Thanksgiving, for Americans abroad, seems to be more important than Halloween, The Fourth, Christmas, or any other major holiday: we miss our families. This year I had the honor of spending Thanksgiving with freinds, old and new, icelandic, danish, and american.
I traveled across the bridge to Maya’s Copenhagen dorm. Most of the day was spent preparing food, which is a big contrast to years prior, where I would play a computer/tv game with the other kids all day and of course prepare the cranberry relish. There was no cranberry relish this year, Copenhagen doesn’t make those easy to find. We did however create a somewhat ambitious and fully vegan menu:
Indigo and her friend Rune were great enough to bring their raw-vegan pumpkin pie and raw-vegan salad. A pleasant surprise from the Danish supermarkets was “smørrepålaeg,” or, “sandwichcondiment,” a nutella spread without milk, which worked perfectly with the dry chunky zucchini muffins. Maya’s plate looked like this:
We set the table with the giant zucchini from Sularpsängen that survived our cooking (we tried hard to put it in everything, it simply did not fit), and a bottle of Gammeldansk courtesy of work.
I gave a brief history of the holiday, as only four of us had celebrated.
We ended the night with a Port O’Brien concert.
Maybe next year I can show the Swedes in my life my definition of Thanksgiving.

After a whale hiccup with the blog, things are back online. In case you missed Dimman, it’s a playlist about death, and the afterlife.
Rest in peace Wayne Knight. You were a caring teacher, boss, and friend.
I’d like to thank all the organizers and Komet Club Roleur for an amazing alleycat on Halloween. Dan N and Chrille P shared Dan’s van for the ride up. Dan’s brother Pär was an excellent host providing a couch, some candy, and a keen knowledge of Gothenburg topography. Everyone was balls-out-black and metal as fuck, complete with headlamps and corpsepaint. We spent the night riding around to different graveyards in the city (Gothenburg has 7 amazing old graveyards!) and although we didn’t burn down any churches, we might have stepped on a few graves. If there’s a day of the year that it’d be okay, it’s Halloween — the souls are out and about, after all. I broke my light at the end of the night, but managed to win one along with a tire which Pär ended up with. Hills yeah! There will be a longer movie from the night, but I’ll leave you with a trailer and some photos.
Halloween is fast approaching. My favorite holiday simply because of the many ways to celebrate. This year I will be road tripping with a few buddies up to Gothenburg to take part in an alleycat, Svart Katt. The entire event will be filmed, and everyone is to be dressed in all black
This week I’ve been getting more in the mood by listening to Kowloon Walled City’s Gambling on the Richter Scale, which is absolutely free!
Another Halloween-time treat has been Korpen Flyger (The Raven Flies). The movie is about an irishman who sees his father slain before him as a boy, and comes to Iceland to exact revenge. A classic:
Thursday, october 22nd, Hollerin’ Jonny and Pistol Patch will be playing country records by Johnny, Dolly, Merle, Hank, Willie, Waylon, Townes, Patsy, and Emmylou.
Don your stetson, grab your girl by the hand or your bottle by the neck and ride your doggy down to Ariman for a night of drinkin’, heartbreak, outlaws, and hollerin’.
Skurar, or, Showers: A playlist for when it’s pouring out.
So I’ve finally got FG up in working order and looking more or less like I want it to. There are still a few tweeks to be made, but I’ll be taking my time with those as things are kind of busy right now with my Anthropology course. I’ll be getting a camera soon, so I’ll be able to photograph type, my products, products for reviews, and the world around me. The fall is upon us, and that means putting clothes on once more.
Keep warm and dry & ha det fint,
Patch
Hugs,
